Welcome to PGxK2A Lab at the
University of Manitoba College of Pharmacy!

The Pharmacogenomics Knowledge to Action (PGxK2A) Lab, led by Dr. Abdullah Al Maruf, advances precision medicine through clinical pharmacogenomics, implementation science, and health services research. Our mission is to generate evidence that advances the clinical implementation of pharmacogenomics, enabling safer, more effective, and more equitable medication use for diverse populations. Working collaboratively with patient and public partners, healthcare practitioners, researchers, health system leaders, and policymakers, we design and evaluate innovative approaches to implementing precision medicine in real-world settings. We are equally committed to training the next generation of researchers and healthcare professionals by fostering a collaborative, inclusive, and mentorship-driven research environment.
Research Pillars:
  • Clinical Pharmacogenomics and Precision Therapeutics: Understanding how genomic variation influences medication effectiveness, safety, and treatment outcomes to advance precision prescribing across diverse populations.
  • Patient-Oriented and Health Services Research: Developing and evaluating equitable precision medicine interventions that improve patient outcomes, healthcare delivery, and medication use in real-world settings.
  • Implementation Science, Knowledge Mobilization, and Education: Accelerating the integration of evidence-based pharmacogenomics into clinical practice through implementation research, policy development, professional education, and stakeholder engagement.

Our lab is currently the Manitoba cohort lead or collaborator on Pan-GEM, PrairieGen, CYMH Trials Network, KINDTrials, and iBio2Div-MS.
